Split payments

Bookings

Kipgo now offers split payments, one of the first in the region. Customers can choose to pay a deposit upfront and spread the remaining balance across scheduled payments. You don't need to do anything to enable it. It works automatically for all listings.

How it works for customers

When a customer books, they have the option to pay a deposit now and cover the remaining balance in installments. The payment schedule is calculated automatically based on the booking date, tour / trek start date, and cancellation policy; so every schedule is unique to that booking.

Payments are charged automatically on the scheduled dates. Customers are notified in advance of each upcoming payment.

What this means for you

The difference is only in how and when the customer pays their side.

The main benefit is more bookings. Customers who might hesitate at paying the full amount upfront are more likely to confirm a booking when they can spread the cost. This is especially relevant for higher-value tours, multi-day treks and long trips where the upfront amount can be significant.

Cancellations and refunds

Our system is designed so that the amount collected at any point is always greater than or equal to what your cancellation policy allows us to refund. For example, if your policy allows a 50% refund for cancellations within a certain window, the collected amount will always cover that. Your cancellation policy is never undermined by a split payment schedule.

Failed payments

If a scheduled payment fails, we automatically retry over the following three days. If all three attempts fail, the booking is cancelled and your cancellation policy applies as normal.

No extra charges

There are no additional fees for split payments, for you or your customers. We absorb the complexity so you don't have to think about it.
